Vermont men victorious over Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Loftur Eriksson converted his second penalty kick of the season in the 85th minute as the Vermont men's team took a 2-1 win over previously-unbeaten Marist in a non-conference match Saturday night.

The Catamounts (7-1-0) took a 1-0 halftime lead as Jackson Dayton finished a Jon Arnar Barodal through ball for his first goal of the season in the 24th minute. The Red Foxes (4-1-1) tied the score as Connor Flatley shot past Eric Venezia at the back post off a Samad Bounthong corner kick in the 69th minute.

"It was a great road win against a top team tonight," Vermont coach Jesse Cormier said. "This game felt a lot like a conference road game with plenty of intensity, pride and momentum changes. I'm so proud of the guys in how they found ways to win the advantage and the game tonight. We had some guys step up and make key plays. Jon and Jackson were exceptional and Arnar, the back line, and Eric kept us together when things got a little away from us."
