Catamount women edged by Big Green

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Vermont women’s team was shut out for the first time this season in falling, 1-0, to Dartmouth in a non-conference match at Virtue Field Tuesday night.

The Catamounts (5-3-1) had a four-match unbeaten streak snapped as Meredith Gurnee scored her second goal of the season in the 55th minute for the Big Green (6-2-0).

Nikki McFarland had the Catamounts’ best chance to take the lead, her low shot off a Caitie Green feed parried by Casey Cousineau, and Sarah Martin had an 89th-minute shot from distance saved.
