Catamount men held to draw by Dartmouth

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Vermont Catamounts men's team squandered a first-half penalty kick and was held to a 1-1 tie by Dartmouth in a non-conference match before an Alumni Weekend 1,710 crowd Saturday.

Vermont (8-1-1) extended unbeaten streaks to four games overall and six games at home.

In the 26th minute the Catamountsí Brian Wright earned a penalty Loftur Eriksson, who had converted two penalties this season, sending the shot high.

The Big Green (1-4-2) took the lead as Jonathan Nierenberg headed past Aron Runarson off an Emmanuel Arteaga cross for his first goal of the season in the 28th minute.

Stefan Lamanna tied the score with his third goal of the season, firing just under the bar off from the edge of the penalty area off a Jon Arnar Barodal pass in the 68th minute.

Vermont had the best chance in the second overtime as Lamanna went to the end line, then found Bernard Yeboah for an open header that went off the crossbar and out.
