Vermont women stopped by Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Vermont Catamounts women’s team surrendered a second-half own goal in falling, 2-0, to Stony Brook in an America East Conference match Thursday night.

The Catamounts (6-5-2 overall, 1-2-0 conference) fell behind as a 65th-minute corner kick went for an own goal. Raven Edwards scored in the 87th minute for the Seawolves (5-7-2, 2-1-0).

The Catamounts threatened on shots by Sarah Martin and Julia Smith in the first half and Martin and Nikki McFarland in the second half.
