Catamount men romp past Retrievers

BALTIMORE -- Senior Brian Wright scored two goals as the Vermont menís team took a 3-0 win over UMBC in an America East Conference match at Retriever Soccer Park Saturday night.

The Catamounts (11-5-1 overall, 3-3-0 conference) earned their second successive shutout and became the seventh team in program history to record an 11-win season. Vermont outshot the Retrievers (5-8-0, 0-6-0), 12-7.

Wright scored his first goal after Jon Arnar Barodal controlled a Billy Heavner clearance, then chipped back for Wright to head in a half volley in the 15th minute. Wright sped past the back line to finish a Charlie DeFeo feed in the 80th minute, his ninth goal of the season.

Stefan Lamanna added an 82nd-minute goal off a Shane Haley feed.
