Vermont Catamounts defeated by Great Danes

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Vermont Catamounts menís team had a four-match winning streak snapped with a 2-0 loss to Albany in the semifinals of the America East tournament Wednesday night.

The Catamounts (13-6-1) threatened early as Bernard Yeboah headed off the right post after Brian Wrightís long throw-in from near the Albany bench was headed on in the 27th minute. Albany (11-5-2) took the lead as Afonso Pinheiro chipped just under the bar off a Bernardo Mattos pass in the 29th minute. Vermont countered as Wright missed wide in the 32nd minute, and Elliot Maker went through the defense and had his shot stopped by Danny Vitiello (three saves) late in the half.

Carlos Clark then went along the top of the penalty area before firing past a diving Aron Runarsson (three saves) in the 66th minute. Fourth minutes later, Yeboah rolled a shot wide off a Jon Arnar Barodal corner kick.
