A look at the upcoming game
Houston Dynamo (5-6-5, 20 pts) @ Portland Timbers (3-7-5, 14 pts), 6 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN Deportes)
Portland returns home after a 2-2 draw at Salt Lake, which will be welcome since it has a 5-2-1 record in Providence Park, and not a single win away from it this season. Houston is unbeaten in its last three MLS games under interim coach Wade Barrett – or winless in its last four, depending on how you look at it. It does have one win over the last month – 4-0 in a U.S. Open Cup against USL side San Antonio. But it has struggled to score under Barrett – two goals in the three MLS games. This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season with the next clash on Sept. 24 in Houston.
