A look at the upcoming game

Houston Dynamo (5-6-5, 20 pts) @ Portland Timbers (3-7-5, 14 pts), 6 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN Deportes)
Portland returns home after a 2-2 draw at Salt Lake, which will be welcome since it has a 5-2-1 record in Providence Park, and not a single win away from it this season. Houston is unbeaten in its last three MLS games under interim coach Wade Barrett or winless in its last four, depending on how you look at it. It does have one win over the last month 4-0 in a U.S. Open Cup against USL side San Antonio. But it has struggled to score under Barrett two goals in the three MLS games. This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season with the next clash on Sept. 24 in Houston.
