MLS ALL-STAR ANNOUNCEMENT
Fan XI selection will be announced during halftime of Sounders-Galaxy game Saturday
The 2016 All-Star Fan XI selections for the Major League Soccer All-Star Game will be unveiled Saturday during ESPN’s halftime coverage of the Seattle Sounders FC-LA Galaxy game.
ESPN Deportes will also provide coverage of the announcement during its game broadcast.
The match will kick off at 3 p.m. ET.
The MLS All-Stars will face Arsenal FC at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif. Thursday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The annual showcase will air live on ESPN, UniMás, UDN, TSN2, and RDS.
The gameday roster, which will chosen by all-Star head coach Dominic Kinnear of the San Jose Earthquakes, will be announced on Sunday, July 17.
To create the fan ballot, media members nominated 160 players. Ten players – one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and two forwards – with the highest combined votes were named to the All-Star Fan XI.
The 11th player – a forward – was determined by the AT&T/EA SPORTS™ “More Than a Vote” Challenge. Fans had the opportunity to vote one forward into all-star Game by scoring goals in EA SPORTS FIFA 16 on Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
The forward with the most votes – one goal equals one vote – will occupy the final forward spot on the Fan XI.
