A look at the upcoming game
Houston Dynamo (4-8-6, 18 pts) @ LA Galaxy (7-3-8, 29 pts), 11 p.m. ET (UniMás/UDN)
For the second time this season the Galaxy will be without Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong for an extended period because of what might charitably be termed an ill-advised tackle. De Jong, who received three extra games from the MLS Disciplinary Commission back in April for a tackle on Darlington Nagbe, got an extra game this week for a midfield foul on Blas Perez on Independence Day. He had already sat out last Saturday's win over Seattle. The Galaxy is riding a two-game winning streak (three if you count U.S. Open Cup), while Houston is unbeaten in its last three (including Open Cup) under interim coach Wade Barrett. This is the second time the clubs have met this season. Los Angeles won 4-1 on April 15 and the teams will meet again Oct. 16. The Galaxy have four shutouts in their last five games (including Open Cup) and have recorded consecutive shutouts in MLS for the first time in their history.
