RSL pull out draw with San Jose

SANDY, Utah--Luke Mulholland's 64th-minute goal lifted Real Salt Lake into a 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes Friday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The result did nothing to help either team snap extended winless streaks -- RSL (8-6-7, 31 pts) have gone six games without a win, while the Quakes (6-6-8, 26) are winless in ten road games this season.

Chris Wondolowski put San Jose up 1-0 in the ninth minute, with his eighth career goal against RSL. Windo poked the ball inside the left post from close range after Jordan Stewart's header attempt off Simon Dawkins' corner kick deflected off a defender.

Mulholland equalized with a sharp eight-yard volley after Javier Morales found him with a pass from the top of the penalty area. Morales did his best to snatch the full three point for Salt Lake, forcing San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham to make three of his six saves in stoppage time.

San Jose put only three shots on goal, the most challenging of which came from Dawkins from low on the left side and forced 'keeper Nick Rimando into a reflex save in the 13th minute. In the 80th, Dawkins lofted a pass to Shea Salinas, whose 22-yard screamer clanged off the crossbar.
