RSL edge Rapids to take Rocky Mountain Cup

SANDY, Utah--Yura Movsisyan scored on both sides of halftime to lift Real salt Lake into a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The win lifts RSL (12-8-7, 43 pts) into a tie on points with the second-place Rapids (11-4-10) in the MLS West, and gives them possession of the 2016 Rocky Mountain Cup for winning the season series between the two teams.
The Rapids seized the upper hand early, when Shkelzen Gashi one-timed the rebound of Dominique Badji's 19-yard shot past netminder Nick Rimando in the fifth minute.
Movsisyan leveled the score n the 39th minute, beating defender Bobby Burling into the six-yard box for Demar Phillips' pass back from the left endline and poking a shot past 'keeper Tim Howard.
Howard finished with four saves, but was beaten once again in the 48th, when Movsisyan took a pass from Joao Plata and sent a shot dipping into the upper right corner from inside the arc.
The score might have been much more lopsided, but RSL failed to capitalize on two penalty kick chances. In the 56th minute, Movsisyan was taken down in the upper right corner of the penalty area by Marc Burch, but missed wide with the spot kick. In the 82nd, Colorado's Eric Miller conceded another penalty, this time with a late tackle on Burrito Martinez, but Howard saved Javier Morales' pk attempt.
