Landon Donovan is coming back -- to the LA Galaxy.

The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday that the former U.S. international midfielder-forward is returning to the Major League Soccer team. Sportswriter Kevin Baxter cited two sources that the 34-year-old would be returning to the club.

Donovan called it a career after helping the Galaxy to the 2014 MLS Cup.

The Times reported that an announcement on Donovan's comeback signing could happen as early as Thursday.

He is the USA's all-time leader in goals (57) and assists (58). Donovan played in three World Cups (2002, 2006 and 2010) although he was left off the 2014 squad by current head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

The Galaxy could use some extra help. LA (10-4-14, 44 points) is in third place in the Western Conference, trailing leader FC Dallas by 51 points. The team, however, leads all MLS sides with 14 draws, including a 7-0-7 mark at home and a 3-4-7 rroad ecord.
