SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC 0, HOUSTON DYNAMO 0
SEATTLE--The last-place Houston Dynamo gave playoff-hungry Seattle Sounders FC all they could handle on the way to a scoreless draw Wednesday night at CenturyLink Stadium.

The Sounders remain fifth in the MLS West at 13-13-6 and 45 points, while Houston improve to 7-13-12 (33).

Both teams mounted spirited attacks, but goalkeepers carried the day at both ends of the field. Seattle's Stefan Frei made five saves, including a soaring 30th-minute dive to redirect Will Bruin's long blast off the right post and back into play.

Joe Willis turned away seven Seattle shots to preserve his fifth shutout of the season. In the 40th minute, he turned away a point-blank breakaway shot from Erik Friberg, then recovered to pick off Friberg's follow-up chance.

Seattle finished the match shorthanded after Osvaldo Alonso was ejected for striking Bruin in the face in the 64th minute.
