NORTH AMERICAN SOCCER LEAGUE

June 11, 2016
NASL SUNDAY
A look at the upcoming game

Fort Lauderdale Strikers (4-2-3-, 15 pts) at FC Edmonton (4-3-2, 14pts) @ Clarke Field, Edmonton, Alberta, 4 p.m. ET (ESPN3 – U.S./NASL.com – Canada/City TV – Edmonton/SFL-TV – Fort Lauderdale)
Going into the weekend, it looked like the NASL Spring Title was the idle New York Cosmos for the taking, but needing to scored four goals and win by at least three, the Indy Eleven moved into the driver's seat with a 4-1 win over Carolina on Saturday putting them in the top spot. Still, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers have a chance to win the NASL Spring title, but they will need to win by six goals or more against FC Edmonton.

The Eddies, though, have allowed multiple goals in just one league game so far this year – 2-0 to Minnesota back on April 10. Heading into the final weekend, there is no team hotter than the Strikers. Fort Lauderdale is unbeaten in its last five league affairs (4-1-0).

FC Edmonton should head into the game refreshed after having its bye week. The last time the side took the field, it was a 1-0 loss to Miami FC, which ended the Eddies’ chances at the Spring Season title. Edmonton now needs to turn its strong performances at the back, with Papé Diakité at the forefront, into wins by finding its scoring touch to build towards the Fall Season.
