Strikers' loss give Indy spring crown

EDMONTON -- The Indy Eleven won the North American Soccer League Spring Championship, by virtue of FC Edmonton defeating the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2-1 at Clarke Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Strikers kicked off the match 3 points behind first-place Indy Eleven, and needed a six-goal victory to finish in first place on goal difference. The Strikers finished sixth place, behind Edmonton, their three-game overall and road winning streaks concluding.

FC Edmonton forward Jake Keegan tallied two first-half goals before Strikers captain PC sparked a second-half comeback attempt after netting from the penalty spot.
Keegan opened the scoring in the 18th minute, off a through ball from Daryl Fordyce, going in alone and shooting under Diego Restrepo, who had conceded one goal from open play in five previous NASL matches.

Keegan scored off a header for a 2-0 halftime lead.

PC struck directly down the middle from the penalty spot in the 58th minute.
