Pair of ties close weekend

OTTAWA---The Ottawa Fury and Indy Eleven exchanged second half goals as the teams played to a a1-1 draw at TD Place on Sunday.
Ottawa (3-2-5, 14 pots Fall/6-6-8, 26 pts overall) opened the scoring in the 59th minute when Ryan Williams curled a free kick from just outside the box on goal. Indy goalkeeper Jon Busch was able to punch it away, but it fell to substitute Thomas Stewart who headed it into the net.
Indy (6-3-2, 20 pts Fall/10-3-2, 38 pts overall) got the equalizer five minutes later, also from a dead ball. Nicki Paterson whipped in a cross that was initially cleared by the Fury FC defense but only as far as Brad Ring, and the midfielder opened his 2016 account in style by knocking home a perfectly timed effort off the underside of the crossbar and in.
PUERTO RICO FC 0, FC EDMONTON 0
EDMONOTON, Alberta---FC Edmontonís home winning streak ended one game shy of a league record after a 0-0 draw with Puerto Rico FC on Sunday at Clarke Field. The Eddiesí home winning streak ended at nine games, while the teamís overall winning streak was halted at five.
The Eddies (7-1-2, 23 points) had the best chance to score in the first half when Dustin Coreaís shot from distance was parried to safety by Puerto Rico (1-5-5, 8 pts) goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg in the 29th minute.
The home side continued to press for a winner throughout the second half, but was unable to break down Puerto Ricoís defense. The Eddies finished the game with 10 men after Sainey Nyassi received a red card for an off-the-ball incident.
FC Edmonton is tied on points with the New York Cosmos in first place, but New York has a superior goal differential.
