No goals, but Cosmos increase lead

LAUDERHILL, Fla. -- The first-place New York Cosmos played to a 0-0 draw with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Central Broward Stadium Saturday night, increasing their lead to three points in the Fall Season standings.

The Cosmos (8-2-3, 27 points), who extended their unbeaten streak to seven games, remained ahead of second-place FC Edmonton, which has two games in hand, in the standings.

Ruben Bover had the best chance for the Cosmos, going in alone on Bruno, who made one of his eight saves, in the 72nd minute as the Strikers (3-5-4, 13 points) increased their unbeaten streak to five games. U.S. youth international Alexis Velela made his professional debut for the Cosmos after Spanish left back Ayoze was injured in the first half.

MIAMI FC 3, PUERTO RICO FC 0
BAYAMON, P.R. -- Miami FC extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a 3-0 win over Puerto Rico FC at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium Saturday night.

Jonny Steele returned from injury to give Miami FC (5-4-2, 19) the lead, his 14th-minute left-footer off a pass from Jonathan Borrajo going past Trevor Spangenberg.

Dario Cvitanich scored his seventh goal of the season on a shot from a sharp angle off a Rhett Bernstein through ball in the 54th minute. Kwadwo Poku added an 87th-minute goal as Miami FC improved to 3-0-3 on the road during the Fall Season.

Puerto Rico FC (1-6-5, 8 points) is winless in its last seven games.

INDY ELEVEN 1, TAMPA BAY ROWDIES 1
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indy Eleven extended its home unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 1-1 draw with the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Carroll Stadium Saturday night.

Tampa Bay (3-6-3, 12 points) took the lead as Justin Chavez headed in a Joe Cole free kick in the 29th minute. Indy (6-4-3, 21 points) tied the score on Omar Gordon’s 34th-minute score.

The Eleven, this year's Spring Season Champion, has earned two points in its last four games.

CAROLINA RAILHAWKS 1, JACKSONVILLE ARMADA 0
CARY, N.C. -- Tiyi Shipalane’s first-half goal gave the Carolina RailHawks a 1-0 win over the Jacksonville Armada at WakeMed Soccer Park Saturday night.

Shipalane chipped Sean Lewis off a Nazmi Albadawi pass in the 43rd minute as Carolina (4-4-3, 15 points) improved its home unbeaten streak to seven games. The Armada (2-6-4, 10 points) increased its winless streak to three games.

MINNESOTA UNITED 1 RAYO OKC 0
MINNEAPOLIS -- Christian Ramirez scored his league-leading 14th goal of the year as Minnesota United took a 1-0 win over Rayo OKC at NSC Stadium Saturday night.

Ramirez finished in the 44th minute after Jamie Watson headed on, his first goal since late July. Minnesota (5-3-5, 20 points) improved its unbeaten streak to four games after three successive draws. Rayo OKC (3-5-4, 13 points), which lost defender Michel to an 88th-minute red card, lost for the fourth successive game.
