Armada, Indy stage comebacks


JACKSONVILLE ARMADA 3, MIAMI FC 2
JACKSONVILLE — Second-half goals by Alex Dixon and Lucas Scaglia lifted the Jacksonville Armada to a 3-2 come from behind win over Miami FC at Community First Park Wednesday night.

Charles Eloundou got the hosts started with a goal less than a minute in when he played a one-two with Zach Steinberger, went around two defenders and made easy work of a shot from close range.

Ariel Martinez equalized in the 27th minute when he used a sharp cutback to dance between four defenders in the box, then finished sharply with his left foot.

Miami (8-6-6, 30 pts Fall/9-11-10,37 pts ) took the lead in the 65th minute when Jonathan Borrajo sent in a cross to the back post, and Gabriel Farfan met it with a sharp header past Gallardo.

The Armada (4-8-8, 20 pts Fall/5-13-12, 27 pts overall) battled back with second-half goals by Alex Dixon and Lucas Scaglia.

INDY ELEVEN 3, TAMPA BAY ROWDIES 2
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Nicki Patterson scored in the 85th minute to quell a comeback by the Tampa Bay Rowdies and give the Indy Eleven a 3-2 win Wednesday night at Al Lang Stadium.

Indy improves to 10-6-4, 34 pts Fall/14-6-10, 52 pts overall, while the Rowdies fall to 5-8-7, 22 pts Fall/9-10-11, 38 pts overall).

Duke Lacroix scored to in the 16th minute and Jair Reinoso finished a cutback from Lacroix in the 31st to double Indy’s.

It took until the 53rd minute for Tampa Bay to find its way back into the match, with Georgi Hristov forcing Keith Cardona to make a save with a low, hard shot. Cardona made the save, but Joe Cole was positioned to pounce on the rebound and cut the Rowdies’ deficit to 2-1.

Cole was at it again in the 68th minute, perfectly placing a shot into the upper 90 of the goal frame and giving Cardona absolutely no chance to make the save.
