August 18, 2016 BACK IN ACTION Boston City sets friendly with Assumption
Boston City FC will play a friendly match against Assumption College at the 1,200-seat Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Boston City FC, which finished second place in the NPSL Northeast Atlantic Conference, advancing to the playoffs in the club's debut season, will include guest and trial players in the team. Admission is free.
"Our players have been eager to come together again as a team so this is the perfect opportunity, and also helps Assumption College during their season preparations," Boston City FC coach Palhinha said. "One of our real strengths last season was the chemistry between a close group of players, so I am pleased we will be able to nurture that as we build towards the 2017 NPSL season."
Lions central defender Gabriel De Souza and midfielder Michael Bustamante won NPSL Best XI honors, and goalkeeper Vitor Scariot, 18, was named to the second team.
The match will be part of a series of community-based offseason activities, which include appearances at local events, interacting with youth soccer organizations and assisting local colleges by providing competitive scrimmage action.
