October 21, 2016 CITY SIGNING League MVP Addai moves to Boston
Boston City FC has signed NPSL leading scorer and most valuable player Isaac “Nana” Addai, the team announced Friday.
Addai, 22, who has played for Liberia’s U-23 team, scored 18 goals in 15 matches for the Rhode Island Reds last season.
“We are delighted to add Isaac to our squad and believe we will create plenty of opportunities for him to continue his proven ability to score goals,” BCFC coach Palhinha said. “There were times last season when, despite the success of qualifying for the playoffs, we missed clear opportunities to score goals and we believe Isaac can provide a solution for our team in that area.”
Addai, who scored twice for Rhode Island in a 3-2 loss to Boston City last season, turned down a chance to play in the USL, according to a source.
“I think we can be an even better team this coming season and I think we can win the NPSL,” Addai said during a presentation that included team supporters at BCFC offices. “The times I played against Boston City last season, I was a little intimidated by the fans, who made so much noise at games, so now I’m glad to be part of their family. I want to improve my game and I can learn from coach Palhinha to create even more goal scoring opportunities.”
