Santa Clarita makes a statement


NEW JERSEY COPA F.C. 1, TSF ACADEMY VALKYRIES 0
WAYNE, NJ - New Jersey Copa F.C. scored three first half goals en route to a 4-1 win over the TSF Academy Valkyries at DePaul Catholic High School.

NJCFC got their advantage in the 21st minute when Krystyna Freda slotted her shot past TSF goalkeeper Rachel Egyed (nine saves).

Six minutes later, the Valkyries tied the match off a corner kick as defender Alana O’Neill scored of an assist from midfielder Nickolette Driesse.

Copa scored two goals in the final five minutes of the first half . In the 40th minute, midfielder Alex Tinfow got the game-winner as her 40 yard-rocket of a shot hit the cross bar and went over the goal line. Forward Jeanine Nunez scored an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute for the 3-1 lead going into halftime.

NJCFC finished the scoring in the 79th minute when Nunez got her second of the night on a through ball from midfielder Juliana Ceballos, placing her shot inside the far post for the 4-1 final score.

NEW JERSEY COPA F.C. 1, LONG ISLAND ROUGH RIDERS 1
WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - The long iSland Rou8gh Riders and New Jersey Copa F.C. played to a 1-1 draw at Mercer County Community College on Sunday afternoon.

Copa took lead in the 9th minute on a goal by Krystyna Freda. In the 38th minute, Long Island forward Christina Bellero scored her third goal of the season off an assist by midfielder Alexa Schneider to tie the game at 1-1.

NEW ENGLAND MUTINY 3, LANCASTER INFERNO 2
MILLERSVILLE, Penn.- Two goals and an assist from Kate Howarth gave the New England Mutiny a 3-2 win over the Lancaster Inferno at Pucillo Field Sunday.

Howarth scored the game-winner in the 72nd minute, as midfielder Romina Bell fired a free kick from 30 yards out that Inferno goalkeeper Emily Dolan (six saves) couldn’t corral. The Mutiny captain was there for the rebound and put the ball away for the final score of the match.

The Inferno’s Katherine Hackos was a handful for the Mutiny, scoring both Lancaster goals, one in each half .

After Hackos scored in the 17th minute, the Mutiny got the equalizer in the 38th minute, as Howarth fed Liana Hinds in on goal from the right side and the former UConn Husky dodged a defender and lobbed her shot over Dolan for the 1-1 score.

New England took the 2-1 lead in the 49th minute. Bell sent in a cross that Howarth headed in for the go-ahead goal. The Inferno made a comeback of their own and Hackos tied the match at 2-2 in the 57th minute on a bouncing ball inside the box. Trisha Clark hit the post in the 65th minute for the home side .

SANTA CLARITA BLUE HEAT 10, HOUSTON ACES 1
HOUSTON- The Houston Aces opened the scoring, but the Santa Clarita Blue Heat countered with ten unanswered goals for a 10-1 win at Houston Sports Park Saturday night.

Marlyn Campa gave the Aces the lead in the 18th minute but ten minutes later Kodi Lavrusky evened it for Santa Clarita, before the floodgates opened in the 35th minute when Mexican international defender Yadira Toraya scored the game-winner, another quick goal and an own goal made it 4-1in the 39th minute.

Julia Hernandemade it 5-1 in the 42nd minute and Lavrusky got her second goa in 45th minute to complete the 6-1 score going into halftime. Roy, Hernandez, Kassi Massey and Viviana Villacorta finished the scoring in the second half for the visitors.

COLORADO PRIDE 1, COLORADO STORM 0
PARKER, CO - Briana Rohmer scored in the 52nd minute to give the Colorado Pride a 1-0 win over the Colorado Storm at Sports Authority Field.

The Texas Tech forward put the ball away from eight yards out off a perfectly slotted pass from University of Northern Colorado sophomore midfielder Mariel Gutierrez.
