Monterrey 1, Queretaro 0
Monterrey edged Queretaro 1-0 Friday at Estadio La Corregidora.

Humberto Suazo pushed the deciding shot over the line in the 40th minute, after Dorlan Pabon forced a turnover at midfield and sent the ball into the penalty area.

Angel Sepulveda had the best chance to salvage a result for the Gallos Blancos, but sent his wide-open early shot wide of the goal.

The Rayados are tied on points with first-place America at 5-1-1 (16), while Queretaro (3-1-3, 10) are in eighth place.

Tijuana 1, Leones Negros 1
Fidel Martinez scored in the 76th minute to lift Leones Negros into a 1-1 tie with Tijuana Friday at Estadio Caliente.

Xolos took the lead in spectacular fashion in the 22nd minute, when Juan Arango blasted a 30-yard shot past goalkeeper Humberto Hernandez. Hernandez dove to rob Dayro Moreno of a second Tijuana goal in the 74th minute, and two minutes later, Martinez leveled the score with a shot that caromed off the crossbar and in.

The result leaves Xolos in 13th place at 1-4-2 (7 pts), and gives U de G (1-2-3) their fifth point of the season.

Pumas 1, America 0
Dante Lopez scored in the 88th minute as Pumas handed Club America their first loss of the season, 1-0 Saturday at Estadio Azteca.

The Aguilas outshot UNAM 24-12, but put only five attempts on goal, all stopped by netminder Alejandro Palacios.

America (5-1-1, 16 pts) fall into a tie with Monterrey for first place, while 12th-place Pumas improve to 2-1-4 (7).

Puebla 3, Morelia 2
Puebla came up with two goals in a two-minute span of the second half to edge Morelia 3-2 Saturday at Estadio Cuauhtemoc for their first win under new head coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola.

Wilberto Cosme’s second goal of the match, in the 60th minute, sealed the win. Cosme also opened the scoring, in the 22nd minute, after a defensive turnover at midfield, but the rest of the first half belonged to Monarcas, who took a 2-1 lead into the locker room on goals by Martin Alaniz, who scored from a sharp angle in the 37th minute, and Miguel Sansores a minute later.

Javier Acuna’s 58th-minute close-range strike leveled the score 2-2 for La Franja. Cuauhtemoc Blanco set up Cosme’s game-winner.

Puebla finish the week in 11th place at 2-2-3 (8 pts). Morelia remain winless at 0-2-5, with a league-worst two points.

Jaguares 2, Tigres 0
Jaguares blanked Tigres 2-0 Saturday at Estadio Universitario.

After a scoreless first half, Bruno Pires headed home the game-winner in the 48th minute. Emiliano Armenteros added the capper seconds before the final whistle.

The win lifts Jaguares into sixth place at 3-2-2 and 11 points. Tigres fall to 2-3-2 with nine points and ninth place in the standings.

Pachuca 2, Leon 1
Hirving Lozano connected twice in the first half, and Pachuca held on for a 2-1 win over shorthanded Leon Saturday at Estadio Nou Camp.

Lozano opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and completed his brace in the 37th, four minutes after Leon defender Juan Gonzalez picked up his second yellow card of the match and was sent off.

Carlos Pena took one back for the Esmeraldas of a rebound in the 58th, but the comeback ended there.

The Tuzos also finished the match with ten men, after Jorge Hernandez was sent off in the 90th minute.

Fifth-place Pachuca improve to 4-0-3 and 12 points. The Esmeraldas fall to 2-0-5 (6) and 15th place.

Atlas 1, Santos Laguna 1
Atlas rallied to a 1-1 draw with Santos Laguna Saturday at Estadio Jalisco.

Santos took only four shots the entire game, and Javier Orozco’s go-ahead tally in the 39th minute, off a service from Darwin Quintero, was their only shot on goal. Edy Brambila leveled the score for the Zorros with a shot to the upper left corner in the 60th.

The result leaves Atlas (4-2-1) third on the table with 14 points, and Santos in fourth place at 3-3-1 (12).

Toluca 2, Veracruz 1
Paulo da Silva’s 71st minute header lifted Toluca over Veracruz 2-1 Sunday at Estadio Nemesio Diez.

Jordan Silva gave the Diablos Rojos a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute, off Richard Ruiz’s header from the edge of the penalty area, but Christian Martinez equalized off a rebound in the 33rd to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.

Seventh-place Toluca improve to 3-2-2 (11 pts), while the Tiburones fall to 1-4-2 (7), good for 14th place.

Chivas 0, Cruz Azul 0
Chivas and Cruz Azul played to a scoreless draw Sunday at Estadio Omnilife.

The Herd appeared poised to take the lead in the third minute, when goalkeeper Jesus Corona was beaten with a header, but defender Maza Rodriguez cleared the shot off the line. Goalkeeper Antonio Rodriguez played the hero for Chivas in the closing minutes, picking off a dangerous shot by Mariano Pavone.

La Maquina are in tenth place at 2-3-2 (9 pts), while Chivas are 16th of the 18th teams at 1-3-2 (6).
