David Depetris leveled the score for Monarcas (2-4-9, 10 pts) off a setup pass from Joel Huiqui in the 54th, and Hibert Ruiz clinched the rare victory off a corner kick in the 74th. Oribe Peralta challenged with another header for first-place America (9-3-3, 30 pts) in the 82nd minute, but netminder Jose Antonio Rodriguez blocked the shot away from the lower corner.

The draw leaves Chivas in 17th place with 12 points (2-6-6).
