Liguilla quarterfinals - Second leg roundup

#1 America 1, #8 Pumas 0 (America advances as higher seed after 1-1 aggregate draw)
Top seeds Club America squeaked through to the Liguilla semifinals with Saturday's 1-0 win over #8 Pumas Saturday at Estadio Azteca.

The result left the series tied 1-1 on aggregate, with neither team scoring a road goal, and the Aguilas advanced as the higher seed.

Paolo Goltz scored the deciding goal, with a header in the 75th minute. Aguilas netminder Moises Munoz chipped in with clutch saves on Dante Lopez and Ismael Sosa before the intermission, and was bailed out by his defense when Sosa caught him out of position in the second stanza.

The Aguilas will face Monterrey in the two-led semifinals.

#2 Tigres 1, #7 Pachuca 1 (Tigres advances as higher seed after 2-2 aggregate draw)
Tigres and Pachuca played to their second straight 1-1 quarterfinal tie on Saturday at Estadio Universitario, sending #2 UANL through to the Liguilla semifinals as the higher-seeded team.

The scoring was over early. Ariel Nahuelpan put the Tuzos on the board from the top right corner of the six-yard box in the 23rd minute, and defender Hugo Ayala countered for Tigres 15 minutes later, putting away a rebound from close range.

Tigres will face Toluca in the semifinals.

#4 Toluca 1, #5 Jaguares 1 (Toluca advances as higher seed after 2-2 aggregate draw)
Pablo Velasquez's 14th-minute goal gave Toluca a 1-1 draw with Jaguares in Sunday's quarterfinal second leg at Estadio Nemesio Diez, and a spot in the semifinals as the higher-seeded Diablos Rojos advanced after a 2-2 aggregate draw.

Velasquez redirected Jeronimo Amione's header into the net to send Toluca through.

Diego de la Torre scored the 1-1 equalizer off a 24-yard Chiapas free kick in the 20th minute.

Toluca will face second-seeded Tigres in the aggregate goal semifinal.

#3 Monterrey 2, #6 Atlas 0 (Monterrey advances, 2-1)
Monterrey blanked Atlas 2-0 on Sunday at Estadio Jalisco, sending themselves through to the Liguilla semifinals by a 2-1 aggregate score in the quarterfinals.

Dorlan Pabon had the first solid chance of the game, a scissored attempt turned away by netminder Federico Vilar in the eighth minute, and finally opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 32nd, after a handball call on Gerardo Venegas. Pabon also collected the assist as Candido Ramirez made the score 2-0 in the 70th, from the left edge of the six-yard box.
