Morelia 0, Leon 0
Morelia and Leon played to a scoreless draw Friday at Estadio Morelos.
Miguel Sabah gave the Esmeraldas the two best goalscoring chances of the match, but was thwarted both times by goalkeeper Felipe Rodriguez.
The two teams remain at the bottom of the Clausura table, Morelia at 0-2-1 (2 pts), and Leon at 0-1-2 (1).
Veracruz 0, Cruz Azul 0
Veracruz and Cruz Azul settled for a scoreless tie Friday at windswept Estadio Luis Pirata Fuentes.
The teams share the Clausura lead at 2-1-0 and seven points apiece.
Santos Laguna 4, Monterrey 1
Santos Laguna opened their Clausura account in a big way on Friday, dominating Monterrey 4-1 at Estadio TSM Corona.
Diego Gonzalez opened the Guerreros' scoring in the 22nd minute, heading home the loose ball after netminder Jonathan Orozco blocked a shot. Nestor Calderon slipped a low shot inside the post to make the score 2-0 in the 36th, and Jesus Molina boosted Santos' lead to three goals two minutes after the intermission.
Dorlan Pabon put the Rayados on the board with a 71st-minute penalty kick, but Andres Renteria restored the hosts' three-goal margin barely two minutes later.
Both team close out week three at 1-0-2 and three points.
America 0, Puebla 0
Goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota made seven saves to help Puebla escape with a scoreless draw against Club America Saturday at Estadio Azteca.
The Aguilas finished the match shorthanded after a 90th-minute red card to Pablo Aguilar.
The result leaves both teams at 1-1-1 and four points.
Tijuana 2, Tigres 1
Tijuana edged Tigres 2-1 Saturday at Estadio Universitario.
Ricardo Jesus gave Xolos (2-0-1, 6 pts) a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute, but the score was tied 1-1 at halftime after Dieter Villalpando's shot caromed off the post and hit Tijuana netminder Cirilo Saucedo in the back of the head on its way back into the net for an own goal. Dayro Moreno netted the game-winner in the 49th minute.
The loss leaves Tigres at 1-0-2 and three points.
Pachuca 2, Queretaro 1
Pachuca (1-0-2, 3 pts) scored twice in eight minutes of the first half and held on to defeat Queretaro 2-1 Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo.
Miguel Herrera staked the Tuzos to a 1-0 lead with a short-range header in the 21st minute, and Diego de Buen doubled Pachuca's lead from 20 yards in the 29th. Orbelin Pineda connected from just outside the penalty area to take one back for the Gallos Blancos (1-1-1, 4 pts) in the 63rd minute.
Chiapas 3, Atlas 1
Aviles Hurtado led the way with two goals as Chiapas routed shorthanded Atlas 3-1 Saturday at Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna.
The Zorros went down a man in the tenth minute, when midfielder Juan Pablo Rodriguez drew a straight red card for a harsh tackle on Vicente Matias Vuoso, but kept the match scoreless through the intermission. Matias Vuoso took his revenge in the 53rd minute, putting Jaguares on the board with a header, and Hurtado ran up the score with goals in the 63rd and 72nd, all three strikes from six yards or less from goal. Martin Barragan saved Atlas from the shutout with an 18-yard blast in the 80th minute.
Both teams close out the week at 2-0-1 and six points.
Pumas 3, Toluca 2
Ismael Sosa's second goal of the match, in the 76th minute, was the game-winner as Pumas outlasted Toluca 3-2 Sunday at Estadio Olimpico Universitario.
Gerardo Alcoba got UNAM (1-1-1, 4 pts) off to a quick start with an eight-yard header into the net in the third minute. Soda made the score 2-0 from just outside the arc in the 20th, but Carlos Esquivel kept things close with a 55th-minute blast for the Diablos Rojos (1-1-1, 4). Sosa restored Pumas' two-goal advantage, providing enough cushion to preserve the win despite a late strike by Toluca's Edgar Benitez.
Leones Negros 1, Chivas 1
Guadalajara rivals Leones Negros and Chivas traded goals for a 1-1 draw Sunday at Estadio Jalisco.
After a scoreless first half, Fidel Martinez picked off a poor clearance from Chivas midfielder Raul Lopez from just outside the six-yard box to give U de G a 1-0 advantage. Omar Bravo brought the Herd back from the brink with an 84th-minute equalizer.
The draw left both teams at 1-1-1 and four points.
