Breakers' streak extends to five games

SEATTLE -- The Boston Breakersí winless streak extended to five games with a 2-0 loss to the Seattle Reign at Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

The Breakers (1-9-1, 4 points) had chances early. In the third minute, Australian Kyah Simon crossed to German international Eunice Beckmann, who fired just over the bar. Six minutes later, a 30-yard free kick from Beckmann, a former Bayern Munich forward, was saved by a diving Haley Kopmeyer.

Seattle went ahead in the 14th minute as Japan international Nahomi Kawasumi finished a cross in front for the first of her two goals.

The Breakers nearly leveled in the 55th minute, Beckmann turning in the penalty area, her left-footer delfected for a corner.

In the 62nd minute, Kawasumi scored from just inside the penalty area, just over Jami Kranich, who matched her season high five saves.

Breakers defender Kassey Kallman took the lead in consecutive minutes played in the NWSL, upping her total to 2,880 (including playoffs), dating to her rookie season at FC Kansas City in 2014, and Rachel Wood earned her first start of the season.
