Breakers take WPSL title


COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Boston Breakers Reserves took a 3-0 win over the San Diego SeaLions to capture the Women’s Premier Soccer League national championship Sunday.

The Breakers opened the scoring on a 50th-minute Katie Lenz goal. In the 75th minute, Gilda Doria upped the edge to 2-0. Chanel Johnson capped the scoring in the final seconds.

The Breakers, who won the WPSL New England Division with a 10-0-0 record, advanced to the national championship after defeating the Chicago Red Stars Reserves, 2-1, in the semifinals Saturday.
