BOSTON BREAKERS

FAMILY REASONS
Breakers' Schillgard leaving

Boston Breakers midfielder Louise Schillgard will not return next season, due to personal reasons, the team announced Thursday.

“I would like to thank Louise for her efforts on and off the pitch last year,” Breakers coach Matt Beard said. “She is a special player. And, of course, I am disappointed that she isn’t able to return, but her family comes first. I wish her, Johan and Matteus all the best for the future.”

Schillgard, 27, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, played in 18 matches (16 starts), totaling one goal and two assists, last season. Schilgard made her NWSL debut against the Washington Spirit April 16 and scored in a 1-1 home draw with the Spirit June 10.
