Revolution adds goalkeepr Cody Cropper

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Revolution have added goalkeeper Cody Cropper as a Discovery signing, the team announced Thursday.

Cropper, 23, has spent the last four years in the Premier League and English Football League Championship, playing last season with MK Dons, where he made nine appearances and logged 685 minutes. Cropper spent three seasons with Southampton FC of the Premier League. He began his time in England in the academy system of Ipswich Town from 2010-12.

“Cody is a player whose development we’ve been tracking the past few years,” Revolution general manager Michael Burns said. “He’s a promising young goalkeeper and we’re excited to bring him to New England.”

Cropper has earned 28 caps representing the U.S. at the youth level. He has earned 21 caps with the U-20s and made seven appearances with the U-23s, most recently in the first leg of the Olympic qualifying playoff against Colombia March 25. Cropper has also played in the 2011 and 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championships, the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the 2015 Toulon Tournament. Cropper is the youngest of seven active MLS goalkeepers to have spent time in U.S. Men’s National Team camps.
