Revolution send away Sambinha

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Revolution have waived Guinea Bissau national team defender Sambinha, the team announced Monday.

Samba, 23, has been playing on loan from Sporting Clube de Portugal. Samba appeared in two games, starting one, and totaled one shot on goal in 91 minutes. He also started in U.S. Open Cup victories over the New York Cosmos in the Round of 16 and the Philadelphia Union in the quarterfinals.

Mamadu Samba Cande spent five years in the Portuguese Second Division, captaining Sporting’s B team from 2013-15. He was born in Cascais, Portugal, and has earned two caps with Guinea Bissau.
