Beckerman named to USMNT for Honduras

Real Salt Lake midfielder and captain Kyle Beckerman did not have to go very far to join the U.S. National Team for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Honduras.

That's because the game will be in Sandy, Utah, home of RSL.

Beckerman on Friday was added to the U.S. National Team's roster for the game, which will Kick off is set for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas).

The U.S. has been hit by a spate of injuries and Beckerman was brought in to add some depth to the midfield.

Beckerman has appeared 25 times for the United States, and served as team captain in the 0-0 draw against Canada on Jan. 29 in Houston. He started in central midfield in the historic 1-0 victory against Mexico on Aug. 15, 2012, the USA's first win against its biggest rival on Mexican soil. He has been a regular member of Jurgen Klinsmann's squad selections since the coach took over in the summer of 2011, and is the second Real Salt Lake player on the roster, joining goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

In first place in the CONCACAF hexagonal, the U.S. (3-1-1, 10 points) is riding a 22-0-2 unbeaten streak at home in qualifying and is coming off a comprehensive 2-0 victory over against Panama. Honduras (2-2-1, seven)is in fourth place.
