Soccer Museum to locate in Frisco, Texas

FRISCO, Texas---The National Soccer Hall of Fame will be relocating to Frisco, Texas as part of a deal that will also see Toyota Stadium get an upgrade.

FC Dallas and U.S. Soccer will formally announce the plans for the new Soccer Hall at a press conference on October 14. The Hall of Fame was originally located in Oneonta, New York, but closed its doors in 2010. Since then all of its archives and artifacts have been in storage.

On Tuesday night, the Frisco Independent School District voted to approve an amendment to the Toyota Stadium lease agreement between Frisco Stadium, LLC, and the City of Frisco, granting the final of four approvals needed from the city for the project to move forward.

The FISD approval was the final step in a year-long effort to upgrade the 10-year-old stadium and move the National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum to Frisco. The Frisco Community Development Corporation, Frisco Economic Development Corporation and Frisco City Council also voted to approve the amendment.

Stadium improvements will include new locker rooms, video boards, upgraded sound system and team store.
