USMNT to meet New Zealand Oct. 11
CHICAGO -- For the third time, the U.S. Men's National Team will face Oceania champion New Zealand in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Kickoff at RFK Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN Networks, UniMás).
Should the U.S. advance through the semifinal round of 2018 World Cup qualifying, the New Zealand encounter will be the team's last before the start of the Hexagonal, the final round of qualifying, which begins Nov. 11.
The U.S. has won both meetings against the Kiwis by 2-1 scorelines. The last contest came on June 8, 2003 in Richmond, Va., the USA's final match before the start of the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.
RFK will host the USMNT for the 24th time, most of any venue. The United States has posted a 15-3-5 record, with an average attendance of 33,876 fans, at RFK.
In the USA's last match in the nation's capital, two goals by Jozy Altidore paced the MNT to a 2-1 win over Peru Sept. 4.
