Spector to miss Olympics with hip injury
U.S. international defender Jonathan Spector won't be playing in the Olympics.
Spector will be sidelined from three to six months after he undergoes hip surgery.
The West Ham United defender was dropped from the U.S. roster for its international friendly in Spain Wednesday and will miss the Beijing Olympics. Spector, 22, suffered a torn labrum in his right hip.
Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder-forward Landon Donovan also will miss Wednesday's game with a groin injury that sidelined him for the 2-0 defeat in England last week.
