Carson, Calif. -- U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard has been scratched from Sunday's World Cup qualifying match with Barbados due to a lower back injury.

Howard, who starred with the MetroStars, was left off the 18-player roster after he suffered the injury during Friday's practice at The Home Depot Center.

New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis was brought into the team for the 5 p.m. ET game (ESPN2).
