GOLD CUP ROSTER
Heaps, Parkhurst make the U.S. team

Johannesburg, South Africa – New England Revolution defender Jay Heaps and former Revs defender Michael Parkhurst were named to the United States’ 23-man roster for the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Thursday.

The Gold Cup roster will have a decidedly different look than the team competing here in South Africa, with only forward Charlie Davies, who scored the first goal in the 3-0 over Egypt at the FIFA Confederations Cup on Sunday, midfielder Freddy Adu, defender Heath Pearce and goalkeeper Luis Robles being retained.

The U.S., which scored a spectacular upset over Spain on Wednesday, meets the winner of Thursday's semifinal confrontation between Brazil and South Africa in Sunday's final.

Two days after Sunday’s final here, the team will gather in Seattle where the U.S. squad and staff will regroup to prepare for the opening game against Grenada on July 4 at 9 p.m. ET at Qwest Field.

The team faces Honduras on July 8 at 9 p.m. ET at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., before rounding out group play against Haiti on July 11 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. ET.

The U.S. roster:
