Mexico City -- The yellow card incurred by U.S. central defender Oguchi Onyewu turned to be a costly one, as he will be forced to sit out the next World Cup qualifier.

Onyewu received his second yellow of the CONCACAF final round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in Africa in the U.S.'s 2-1 loss to Mexico in Azteca Stadium on Wednesday.

The A.C. Milan defender was awarded the card in the 27th minute.

As it turned out, the U.S. backline almost pulled off a unique "fullhouse" of yellow cards in the match as Jay DeMerit and team captain Carlos Bocanegra also were cautioned. Steve Cherundolo did not receive a yellow card.
