U.S. men climb to No. 11 in FIFA rankings

Even though it dropped a World Cup qualifier to Mexico on Aug. 12, 2-1, the United States moved up a spot from 12th to 11th place in the monthly FIFA rankings, which were released Wednesday.

The U.S. has 974 points. The Americans swapped places with Greece (971), which fell to 12th place.

There was no change among the top three spots -- No. 1 Brazil (1,604), second-place Spain (1,588) and No. 3 Netherlands (1,376).

The rest of the top 10: Italy (11,86), Germany (1,186), Russia (1,129), England (1,127), Argentina (1,113), Croatia (1,101) and France (1,040).
