Bid Committee to unveil 18 final venues; Gillette Stadium in the running


The USA Bid Committee Tuesday will reveal the 18 cities that will be included in the United States bid book for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, the organization announced Friday.

Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. is still in the running. Itís predecessor, Foxboro Stadium hosted games during the 1994 World Cup.

The U.S. is among 10 countries in the World Cup sweepstakes.

The candidates: Spain/Portugal, Australia, Qatar, Belgium/Holland, Korea Republic, Russia, Japan, Indonesia, United States and England.

All candidates must have their bid books to FIFA by May 14.

FIFA will announce the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Zurich, Switzerland in December.
