SUCCESSFUL SURGERY
Davies still 'has a lot of bending to do'

U.S. international forward Charlie Davies said that his recent surgery was a success.

Davies underwent surgery Feb. 2 for his injured elbow, which that he incurred during a fatal car accident in which he was a passenger in northern Virginia in October.

"Thank you all for the support," he said on twitter. "Surgery was a success & still have a lot of bending to do. No pain No gain. Bless!"

Davies suffered a ruptured bladder, a fractured elbow, broken tibia and femur and facial injuries in the accident.

Davies, a former Boston College standout, is expected to take from six to 12 months to return, although he has said he wants to play in the World Cup in June and July. If he does, that would be considered in some circles a medical miracle.
