CAN HE STOMACH IT?
Ailment sidelines Altidore from training
PRETORIA -- U.S. forward Jozy Altidore missed practice with a stomach ailment Tuesday, but he is expected to play against Algeria in the vital Group C match Wednesday.
"Jozy just wasn't feeling well," coach Bob Bradley said in a press conference. "He'll be fine tomorrow."
Altidore, 20, helped set up the U.S.'s equalizer in its 2-2 draw with Slovenia Friday.
The U.S. (0-0-2, two points) finds itself in a must-win situation against Algeria (0-1-1, one) in its final group match. A win and the U.S. would qualify for the second round for the first time since the 2002 competition. The Americans can advance via a tie, but would only move on if they finish with a better goal differential than England (0-0-2, two). The U.S. is plus two, England is zero.
Slovenia (1-0-1, four) leads the group.
If Altidore cannot play for some reason, LA Galaxy forward Edson Buddle would be expected to take his place in the lineup.
