Former New England Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey has been named the New England Soccer News Player of the Week for the week ending June 26.

Dempsey’s goal on Wednesday gave the United States a 1-0 win over Panama in the Gold Cup Semi Finals at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The current Fulham midfielder then set up the goal that gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead in Saturday’s eventual 4-2 loss to Mexico at the Rose Bowl in the final.
