U.S. MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM

NOT GOOD FOR GOODSON
Defender withdrawn from Mexico match

U.S. international defender Clarence Goodson withdrew from the roster for Wednesday's friendly against Mexico in Philadelphia due to a strained left hamstring suffered in Brondby’s 2-1 loss at Odense BK on Sunday.

Goodson, the Brondby captain, was evaluated by his club team doctors Monday and did not travel to the United States.

U.S. coach Juergen Klinsmann will not name a replacement, leaving him with 21 players to choose from for the 18-man game-day roster.

Klinsmann could very well start Carlos Bocanegra and Tim Ream, two lefties, in the middle of the defense.

Here is an updated U.S. roster:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Tim Howard (Everton)

DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne), Edgar Castillo (Club America), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Zach Loyd (FC Dallas), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Jose Torres (Pachuca)

FORWARDS (5): Freddy Adu (Benfica), Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Edson Buddle (FC Ingolstadt), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)
