Agudelo was forced from the U.S.’s 6-0 rout of Cuba in its tournament opener on Thursday with “a knock,” on his leg according to coach Caleb Porter.
He did not practice with the team on Friday.
It was not known how long Agudelo will be sidelined. The New York Red Bulls team physician will make a determination on whether Agudelo will undergo surgery.
Agudelo will return to New Jersey to consult with the doctor.
Agudelo, who scored one goal and almost had another in the match at LP Field was replaced, at halftime by Teal Bunbury.
“We wanted to be smart,” Porter said on Thursday night. “We’re up 4-0 at the time and we want to be smart about how we manage the game. He also took a knock, so we didn’t want to take any risks. We also have a lot of confidence in our bench. We have a lot of depth, and we know we can put guys in the game and the level will stay right where it is.”
