EMIGRANTES FALL ON PENALTIES
Danbury moves on in U.S. Open Cup


Danbury United of Connecticut defeated Emigrantes das Ilhas on penalty kicks in a U.S. Open Cup match at Rocky Marciano Stadium in Brockton Sunday.

Carlos Valdir Fernandes gave Emigrantes the lead in extra time, but Danbury tied the score on a penalty kick. Danbury then won, 6-5, on penalties and will join Aegean Hawks as the two representatives of the US Adult Soccer Association Region 1 in the U.S. Open Cup final 40 bracket.

Emigrantes will meet Boston Olimpiacos at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hyde Park in a US Amateur Cup game.
