FOURTH OPEN CUP FOR FIRE
Chicago downs Los Angeles 3-1


BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. –The Chicago Fire claimed its fourth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy Wednesday night.

Chicago began the scoring in the 10th minute. C.J. Brown attempted to head the ball into the net. The ball fell behind him. Andy Herron snuck in and shot toward the right post. Nate Jaqua dove and headed it in for a 1-0 Fire lead.

Six minutes later, Herron added one of his own. Justin Mapp crossed the ball toward the left side of the goal. Herron headed the ball behind L.A. keeper Kevin Hartman for a 2-0 lead.

Los Angeles struck in the 51st minute as Al Gordon picked up the rebound of his own shot and drilled it into the upper right corner.

Thiago, who entered the game in the 85th minute snuck one in behind Hartman three minutes after coming into the game, giving the Fire a 3-1 lead.
