Wambach finalist for FIFA women's world player again

United States striker Abby Wambach, Brazil forward Marta and Germany goalkeeper Nadine Angerer have been named finalists for the FIFA Women's World Player of the Award.

Wambach, who broke Mia Hamm's all-time women's international scoring record earlier this year. earned the the FIFA honor in 2012 after she helped the USA to its third consecutive Olympic gold medal at the Summer Games.

Angerer stood out for Germany at EURO 2013 and was named UEFA’s European Footballer of the Year.

Marta, who has won the FIFA award five consecutive times (2006-2007), scored 12 goals in 15 games for Tyreso, now into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

The winner will be announced at the annual FIFA awards gala in Zurich, Switzerland on Jan. 13.
