USA reaches Algarve Cup finale with 0-0 draw

LAGOS, Portugal - A 0-0 tie with Iceland in its third Group B game at the Algarve Cup was just enough to send the United States women to a championship match with France in two days.

It will be a rematch of the teams' meeting on Feb. 8 in Lorient, France where the French scored a 2-0 victory. And while the French will be playing in their first Algarve championship game, it will be the 14th appearance in the tournament finale for the USA, which has won the annual Portuguese tournament nine times.

Hope Solo will likely start in goal for the Americans after missing the earlier meeting with France while serving a 30-day suspension. In the game against Iceland, she made one significant save, leaping to push a ball over the net late in the second half, preserving the tie. Solo started all three Algarve Cup games for the U.S., including a 2-1 win over Norway and a 3-0 victory over Switzerland, and made clutch saves in each.
