U.S. motors to 5-0 win over Haiti in Detroit


DETROIT - Carli Lloyd had three goals and Crystal Dunn had a goal and two assists as the U.S. Women's National Team routed Haiti 5-0 in front of 34, 538 at Ford Field.

Haiti was a late replacement for the Australian National Team which is in the midst of a labor dispute.

Lloyd quickly opened the scoring for the U.S., in just the sixth minute. Dunn, th eonly member of the team who was not on the World Cup roster, beat her defender down the side and served a cross into the penalty area. Lloyd out-jumped her defender and sent a bouncing header into the goal.

In the 33rd minute, Dunn worked a give and go with Tobin Heath, before curling a cross into the box which Christen Press redirected to the near post.

Lloyd scored her second of the game in the 37th minute, placing a penalty kick into the right corner of the net after Press was taken down in the area.

The World Cup Golden Ball winner got her third goal of the night in the 69th minute. Lauren Holiday drove a corner kick into the area. Lloyd again got up for a header, sedning the ball across the goal and over Haiti goalkeeper Edny Limage.
In the game's final seconds Dunn scored her first career international goal. It came on a cross from Heather O'Reilly. Dunn cut through the box, sliced in front of Abby Wambach and jumped high to power her header home.

The two teams meet again in Birmingham, Alabama on September 20 at Legion Field.
