American women 2nd in final FIFA rankings


The United States women finished second in the final FIFA rankings of the year.

The Americans, who finished third in the Women's World Cup, totalled 2,186 points, second to world champion Germany (2,201).

Sweden (2,086), which moved up a spot, took third place. Brazil, which took second at the WWC, dropped a spot to No. 4.

The rest of the top 10 remained the same. Norway (2,040), which finished fourth at the WWC, remained in fifth, followed by No. 6 North Korea (2,2029), France (2,003), Denmark (1960), Canada (1,950) and England (1,946).

The next FIFA ranking will be released on March 21.
